(Auckland) March Event: Hong Kong Budget Briefing 2014

The Hong Kong New Zealand Business Association (HKNZBA), in conjunction with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO), hosted a briefing session on the 2014/15 Hong Kong Budget on Wednesday 26 March in Auckland.

Presented by Mr. Steve Barclay, Director of the HKETO Sydney, the briefing presented the highlights from the recently announced Budget, as well as an update on the latest economic situation and government plans of the Hong Kong SAR.

(Auckland) March Event: HKTDC F&B Delegation Visit

The HKNZBA hosted a Food & Beverage Delegation from Hong Kong, led by the HKTDC, in Auckland in March.  Mr Fred Lam (Executive Director of HKTDC), Ms Bonnie Shek (Director of Australia & New Zealand, HKTDC Sydney), members of the visiting delegation and the Executive Committee members of the HKNZBA were welcomed with a Michelin Star cuisine prepared with New Zealand grown organic produce.  Special thanks to our host for the evening, Zen Garden at Whitford.

(Auckland) March Event: Annual General Meeting

The Hong Kong New Zealand Business Association Incorporated (HKNZBA) held our 2014 Annual General Meeting on the evening of Thursday 20 March.  It was a special occasion as the new Executive Committee for 2014/15 was elected.  Ms. Stella Chan, President of 2012/13 and 2013/14, have now completed her two-year term, we sincerely thank her for all her effort in successfully leading the Association through two fruitful years.

Congratulations to Mr. Andrew Sayers and Mr. Chris Hung for being elected as the new President and Vice President of the Association.  Joining them on the board are Ms. Bernice Lo and Ms. Carrie Lui as Secretary and Treasurer.  Bernice, along with Mr. Mark Russell (Wellington Branch), are new members to the Committee.  Mr. Felix Lee and Ms. Eva Ho, both ex-presidents of the Association, have stood down from their positions in the Committee but will continue their support as members of the Association.  We wish to thank both Felix and Eva for their valuable contributions over the past years.

(AKL/WLG) February Event: CNY Receptions 2014

The HKNZBA jointly hosted the Chinese New Year receptions with HKETO / HKTDC / InvestHK in Auckland and Wellington in early February.  Members of the Association and guests were entertained by an amazing sand-art show on the big screen and celebrated the arrival of the Year of the Horse with fantastic music, bubbles and prizes!  Congratulations to the lucky winners of the various lucky draw prizes, including a return flight to Hong Kong via Cathay Pacific.

(Hong Kong) December Event: 14th Hong Kong Forum

The Hong Kong New Zealand Business Association have won the Outstanding Membership Award (1st runner-up in the Asia & Australasia Region), which acknowledges the associations or chapters of the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide for outstanding membership increase; as well as the Percentage Achiever Award for outstanding increase in membership on year. The awards were presented at the 14th Hong Kong Forum in early December at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

(Auckland) September Event: 5th Hong Kong Festival – Closing Gala

The Hong Kong Festival (New Zealand) is an annual flagship event hosted by the Hong Kong New Zealand Business Association in Auckland and Wellington, to celebrate the arts, culture and opportunities Hong Kong has to offer. On the 5th birthday of the festival, the HKNZBA is hosting a business seminar to highlight the important bridge between the social culture and business, as the Association’s September event.  Mr Simon Young will be speaking on how New Zealand exporters can take on the challenge of reaching a Chinese audience that is highly engaged with digital and online channels.
